As you probably know, Nintendo will close the 3DS and Wii U eShop from March 28, 2023. However, this coming August 29, it will no longer be possible to use prepaid cards to add funds to accounts.
And if we add to that that since last May 23 it is not possible to add balance with bank cards, users are practically their last chance to get games that can only be played on these consoles.

“In a little over 2 weeks, you won’t be able to add points to 3DS and Wii U. I’m browsing their stores and thinking this is my last chance. Because of the touchpad (in each), there are probably a lot of things that won’t be carried over to other hardware.”

As you could see, it seems that Sakurai is one of the millions of users who are concerned about this situation, since as he himself said, there are many games that due to their characteristics may not be compatible with other platforms.
