MADRID 7 Oct. () –
Russian authorities said this Monday they have “reliable” information that “directly” involves the governments of the United States and the United Kingdom in the attack against the Nord Stream gas pipeline that took place in September 2022 in the Baltic Sea.
This was expressed by the head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Narishkin, who called what happened a “terrorist attack.” “We have information that points to this direct involvement of the United States and the United Kingdom,” he stated before stating that “they were professional saboteurs from Anglo-Saxon special services who participated in the organization, preparation and implementation of this attack.”
Likewise, he has accused the special services of some Western countries, but above all the “British MI-6” of preparing “Ukrainian saboteurs to carry out missions against Russian nuclear power plants”, according to information from the Russian news agency. TASS.
“Available data indicate that Western intelligence services, mainly the British MI-6, were systematically training Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups to organize these actions,” Narishkin said during a summit attended by the heads of the security agencies and intelligence services of the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Astana, the capital, of Kazakhstan.
In this sense, he has warned that the country has recently faced an unprecedented terrorist threat from third countries. “Russia has faced an unprecedented form of terrorist threat that comes not only from terrorist gangs or lone terrorists, but from a State or, rather, a group of States,” Narishkin explained.
Likewise, he has accused United States Intelligence of sharing with Ukraine the information necessary to carry out attacks against Russian civilian infrastructure. “According to information from Russian Intelligence, since the beginning of the conflict the United States has been transmitting information to kyiv, which then uses this data to attack Russian civilian infrastructure,” he pointed out.
