This Friday, according to the most recent report, the National Institute of Roads (Invías) attends a road emergency that affected the Guadualejo – Belalcazar – El Palo highway in the Toribio – El Palo sector between the municipalities of Caloto and Corintio at kilometer 131 + 300 (Cauca).

According to the entity, the flooding of the El Pedregal ravine caused the total closure of this section.

The Director of Execution and Operation of Invías, Juan José Oyuela Soler indicated that, “The rains of the last few hours dammed several water tributaries and as a consequence of this contingency, personnel and machinery from both Invías and the municipal mayor’s offices were transferred, and together with the routine maintenance cooperative that is present in the area, a passage was enabled. a lane”.

Currently, the road is restricted to one lane, while Invías engineers and specialists are advancing in a technical study to find a definitive solution such as the construction of a bridge that mitigates the effects that the Palo River has left in that sector. .

To ensure the mobility of the inhabitants of the area between the municipality of Caloto and Toribio, the entity recommends taking the following alternative route: Tacueyo – Boquerón – Soto – La Luz – Corinto.

The traffic authorities on the Bogotá – Ibagué road report continuity with control of one lane in the Silvania and Melgar section. Drivers can use the Alterna route through La Mesa, which presents low traffic flow.
