Registered an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 in Indonesia

The Indonesian Geological Survey (BMKG) has reported this Sunday an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 detected in Indonesian waters, with no news of a possible tsunami for the moment.

The earthquake was recorded at 5:30 a.m. local time (11:30 p.m. Spanish peninsular time) in the north of the island of Sumatra, 47 kilometers southeast of the Indonesian town of Kabupaten Aceh Singkil. The tremor occurred at a depth of 23 kilometers.

So far, the country’s authorities have not issued any tsunami alert or reported any loss of life, although they have warned of possible aftershocks.

In fact, after the earthquake, an aftershock of 3.4 and another of 3.3 were registered in the same area.
