There is no doubt for anyone that companies like Microsoft and Nintendo have been reaping success on a frequent basis. However, each of them has also had some rough patches with projects released in the past. Some of them were Kinect and Wii U respectively, both of which failed by several points that Reggie Fils-Aimé shared recently.

As you surely know, the former president of Nintendo of America has been giving different interviews and conferences to promote his book Disrupting the Game. Thanks to this, the good Reggie has shared various details about his time in the video game industry.

Neither of the 2 proposals had the expected result

On this occasion, the Regginator participated in a special question and answer event in Seattle, where he was approached with several doubts about Nintendo, including the failure of the Wii U, for which he confessed the reasons for that result with the console.

According to him, the predecessor of the Switch suffered a lot from the beginning because it did not have an important or “killer” game at its launch, believing that Nintendo Land would be the best game for that moment.

In addition, Reggie said that the pace of the Wii U software after launch was not strong because the company sought to reach the level of quality in the games, a mission that took longer than expected, all without counting on the Nintendo’s proprietary engines weren’t as good as Unreal Engine and Unity.

What happened to Kinect?

On the other hand, the former president of Nintendo of America also had to deal with hardware from other companies, as he spoke about Kinect and its poor results with Xbox fans.

The businessman said that what affected this Xbox 360 accessory the most, despite the fact that it was good technology, was that the content was not there to support it, in addition to the fact that the complete console and Kinect package was too expensive.

As you can see, it seems that Reggie still remembers in a good way all the moments he lived when he was one of the most important personalities in the industry and wants to share his experience with the new generations.
