According to the Global IA Adoption Index 2022 study, conducted by Morning Consult for IBM, the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the country has had a significant increase (7%) in the last year.
Thus, the research highlighted that one of four companies in Colombia (23%) reported that they use AI in their business operations.
(How are Colombian companies adopting data analytics).
As for the reasons that have driven this reception, the reduction of costs and automation of processes (40%) and the demands resulting from the pandemic (38%) stand out.
However, other findings indicated that 47% of companies reported that they are exploring the use of AIwhile 57% of IT professionals in Colombia noted that they have accelerated their investments and deployment of AI in the last 24 months.
For their part, more than half of IT professionals (56%) said that their company has plans to invest in the adoption of AI through its incorporation in processes and applications.
“Advances have been made in the adoption of Artificial Intelligence in Colombia. However, it is important to continue working on a holistic strategy within all organizations. There is a way to go”, said Patricio Espinosa, general manager of IBM Colombia.
Another point highlighted by the report is that the main barriers to adopting AI in local companies are: limited AI skills, experience, or knowledge (26%); lack of tools and platforms to develop AI models (24%) and high prices (21%).
“IBM is helping to break down these barriers and deliver the benefits of AI to more people,” added Espinosa.
