Earlier this week a protest started on Reddit that has ended up with a peak of over 7000 subreddits with restricted access in protest of the changes that are going to be made to the API of the social network, where it will go from free use of it -something that has allowed higher quality applications to exist than the official one-to charge a crazy amount for their operations.
In the case of Apollo, the amount is expected to exceed 20 million dollars annuallyan amount that the application is unable to generate on an annual basis, but that is still widely used by the moderators of the social network due to the presence of utilities that Reddit refuses to include in its official application and that facilitates the task of the moderators.
Right now, Reddit CEO Steve Huffmann not only has no plans to reverse these appalling changes, instead, he has threatened to replace the moderators of the thousands of communities that have decided to join this movement as punishment.
In this way, Huffmann-like-thinking moderators would be placed, who would open all the subreddits and dissolve the protest in record time, in addition to supporting any other measure that the CEO wants to implement, all without any financial compensation for his time.
