March 4 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Mali Red Cross has reported this Saturday the kidnapping of two of its aid workers who were arrested on Saturday morning between Gao and Kidal, in the north of the country.
“We ask not to speculate on this incident so as not to hinder its resolution,” the organization said in a statement published on social networks.
The Red Cross recalled that it has been present in Mali for 32 years and stressed that “the ICRC is a neutral, independent and impartial organization”. The message closes with the hashtag #notunobjective.
Mali and the rest of the countries of the Sahel have experienced an upsurge in violence in recent years, both by groups linked to the branches of the terrorist organizations Al Qaeda and the Islamic State that operate in the region, as well as by inter-community groups.
