QLED technology
We can talk about QLED technology, it is an evolution of the LED that we have just seen.
It’s based on the same principle of having a backlight, a liquid crystal layer, the color layer and the display screen, but instead of using white LED backlights, as that makes for less than perfect whites, uses a different technology.
The technology giant Samsung was in charge of creating this type of screen, which uses a blue backlight and then places a quantum dot layer between the backlight and the LCD layer.
These points are capable of receiving the blue light emitted and then turn it red and greensomething that by combining it allows to generate the perfect white backlight.
This whole system makes this type of television capable of offering the user a much more precise white, as well as more vibrant colors that are closer to reality.
The great advantage they have, compared to the LED, is that we get a better colouring, lower saturation, higher brightness and better viewing angles.
OLED technology
Its initials mean Organic Light-Emitting Diodewhich translated into Spanish is organic light emitting diode.
As you have been able to read, it is called organic, something that is like that because of the carbon film that you have inside the panel, just behind the glass screen.
It is a technology in which the emission of light is characterized by placing several organic films between driverswhich allows each pixel light up individually.
These types of televisions have two great advantages over others:
- The first is that they can be much thinner and a lot more energy efficient than LED or QLED TVs.
- The second is that, by having the ability to turn on pixels individually, if black is needed, they simply cut power to those pixels where black is present. So in this case we can talk about are the purest blacks of all technologies.
But then which one is better?
This is a question that is impossible to answer definitively, since each of the technologies has its positive and negative parts.
It is clear that if what we are looking for is picture quality we will have to buy a television with QLED or OLED technologyBut all this has its nuances.
If we have a quite limited budgetthere is no doubt that the LED televisions are the most suitable for us, since they are the most affordable models. Although they do not reach the quality of the other two technologies, their visualization is really good.
If we have already started talking about QLED and OLED technology, here each user must decide which is the one that best suits what they are looking for.
It is evident that the pure blacks who get the OLED technology and the energy saving, is something that QLEDs are not going to be able to match. But it is also true that despite the accuracy of color and contrast of OLEDs, they are not capable of having the bright that the devices with QLED display.
