Pyongyang approves war deterrence measures against joint US-South Korean exercises

March 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –

North Korea announced this Sunday the approval of “important and practical” measures for the “offensive use” of war deterrents, due to “provocations” by Washington and Seoul, referring to joint military exercises that have scheduled for this week.

This decision has been made during a military commission of the ruling party of Pyongyang, held under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, as reported by the North Korean news agency KCNA.

“During the meeting, important practical steps were discussed and adopted to make more effective, powerful and offensive use of the country’s war deterrent to deal with the current situation where the US and South Korean provocations of war are reaching the red line”, reads a statement in which the policies adopted are not specified.

Washington and Seoul have scheduled joint exercises starting this Monday with a duration of eleven days. However, last week Kim Yong Un and his sister, Kim Yo Jong, criticized the maneuvers of the US Armed Forces, maintaining that they reserve the right to take “appropriate, swift and overwhelming actions” in response, while accusing the US to “intentionally” generate tension.
