Provisional prison for attempted murder and rebellion with a weapon for the attacker of the playground in Annecy, France

June 10 () –

The Annecy prosecutor, Line Bonnet-Mathi, has announced this Saturday the indictment of the crimes of attempted murder and rebellion with a weapon against the individual arrested for the stabbing of four children and two adults in a playground in the French town of Annecy, in the east of the country. The suspect, Abdalmasí H., is a Syrian national, although it has been ruled out that there may be a terrorist motive.

Bonnet-Mathi has also announced that the lives of none of those injured in the attack, which occurred last Thursday, are no longer in danger. “No one has compromised their vital prognosis,” she stressed.

The prosecutor has made an account of the events, which began around 09:30, when four minors and one adult were stabbed in the Paquier park.

The intervention of several people who were near the playground caused the suspect to flee, although he was finally arrested about 300 meters from the park by five police officers after he stabbed another adult several times, the sixth victim. This sixth victim was hit by a shot from the police officers.

On the other hand, the prosecutor has explained that the suspect “has not wanted to testify” before the investigating judges and has already passed at the disposal of the liberties and detention judge once the maximum period of police custody has expired.

Meanwhile, the residents of the area continue to visit the site of the attack, which has become a tribute to the victims with the placement of flowers, messages of support, stuffed animals and balloons.

“It gives chills. I have come with the children to explain to them what has happened. It is important that they know,” a father told BFMTV television.
