June 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Groups of protesters against the Government of Israel gathered this Thursday in front of two private residences of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to demand the calling of early elections, as well as the signing of an agreement for the release of the hostages kidnapped by the Islamic Resistance Movement. (Hamas) since October 7.
The protesters have gathered both in the vicinity of Netanyhau’s home in the town of Caesarea, on the northern coast of Israel; as in front of the home that the prime minister has in the north of the city of Jerusalem, according to information collected by the local newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.
Among the main demands of the protesters is to call early elections as soon as possible, an extreme defended by the main members of the opposition, such as Yair Lapid or Benny Gantz, who has recently left the war cabinet due to his differences with the Israeli leader. .
Likewise, they demand that Israel immediately close an agreement that certifies the release of the hostages that Hamas has been holding hostage for more than eight months after the attacks of October 7, in which almost 1,200 Israelis died and was the trigger for the current war in the region.
Israel and Hamas reached a brief agreement late last year for the release of hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners and a ceasefire. Since then, efforts for a new agreement have multiplied, although so far they have not met with any success.
The last proposal on the table was presented by the president of the United States, Joe Biden, who proposed a schedule for the end of hostilities, the release of prisoners and kidnapped people and a political restructuring of the Gaza Strip. However, as confirmed from Washington, Hamas rejected the proposal.
