Hundreds of protesters have gathered this Friday in Burkina Faso in front of the French Embassy and the Kamboisin military camp to demand the withdrawal of the French Special Forces from the country within a period of 72 hours.
According to Radio France International (RFI), the group that carried, in addition to whistles and vuvuzelas, Burkanese and Russian flags, has accused the French country of playing a “problematic” role in the fight against the jihadists of Burkina Faso.
The protesters have sent a letter to the French diplomatic representation, according to this same source, after which they have addressed these two points. Burkina Faso soldiers have collected their demands and have promised to pass them on to the French troops.
The group has also expressed its discontent with the election of five members and has tried to get the Rood-Woko market merchants to close their businesses to express their opposition to the new head of commerce, which almost led to a confrontation, according to the portal of news ‘Le Faso’.
The country has been the scene of two coups in less than a year, beginning with the one carried out in January by Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, deposed in turn by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the current transitional president of Burkina Faso.
