In the case of the memory configuration of this device, the new manufacturer documents indicate that, as the memory system is more efficient in the PS5 Pro, “the bandwidth gain can exceed 28 percent.”

Developers will also gain greater control over overall system memory, as they will be able to use an additional 1.2GB with some games on the PS5 Pro, or 13.7GB total, compared to 12.5GB. assigned to current PS5 games.

According to this information, the increase in memory speed “may be useful” for the console's compatibility with Sony's PSSR rescaling technology, which has created an architecture that supports 300 TOPS of 8-bit computing.

This architecture is compatible with Sony's custom PSSR solution, which is designed to replace the implementation of 'anti-aliasing' temporal or post-processed image effects, as well as improvements in the sampling rate of video games. Likewise, it will work “very similar to DLSS (from Nvidia) or FSR (from AMD),” with support for HDR.

Sources close to Sony's plans have confirmed to The Verge that the aforementioned documents, which contain the complete specifications of the console, have been provided to developers to ensure that their games are compatible with the new hardware.

This information is in line with what the popular video game leaker Tom Henderson advanced at the end of March, when he indicated that the new console would be capable of offering a resolution of up to 8K in 'performance mode' and a 45 percent faster rendering speed than the PS5.

Ensuring that the data shared through the YouTube channel 'Moore's Law is Dead' was true, Henderson pointed out that the new PS5 Pro would have a performance power of 33.5 teraflops and that would include PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling technology.

With custom machine learning architecture to improve the image and an Artificial Intelligence (AI) accelerator, PS5 Pro would support a power of 67 teraflops of 16-bit floating point, as well as a trace of x4 rays “in some cases”, according to the leaker.

The platform will be equipped with a removable disk drive similar to the PS5 Digital Edition version of the standard console, as well as 1TB of storage space. As for its memory, its performance will increase by 28 percent, reaching 576 GB/s, compared to the 448 GB/s of the current console.
