The stock problems that Sony had with the launch of the PlayStation 5 are a thing of the past. The console manufacturer did not want the same story to be repeated manufacturing enough PS5 Pro to meet demand and thus avoid reselling by speculators who have gotten themselves into a big mess: There are so many that they have to resell them below their price.
The PS5 Pro is not designed for all players, but for the most demanding players willing to pay 799 euros for the version without a disc reader, but Sony assures that it is worth it. The console with a physical video game reader costs 919 euros.
Although the price was not the main problem at the launch of the original PlayStation 5, the console was almost out of stock as soon as it hit the market, leading to an increase in speculators. To avoid this, Sony has launched the PS5 Pro with enough stock for the stores.
Sony ends the resale of the PlayStation 5 Pro
Some people who expected to do business with the PlayStation 5 Pro have been wrong, at least in the European market. Sony has made sure to manufacture so many units that resellers cannot make any profitIn fact, they have to sell them at a loss.
Speculators are selling the PS5 Pro on second-hand portals such as Wallapop or eBay for around 30 and 50 euros less than the original price. Resellers want to get rid of the console as soon as possible to prevent it from losing even more value. Added to this are the offers for the 11th of the 11th on sites like AliExpress with discounts of between 60 and 70 euros.
The real business of the speculators is now in the disc readers compatible with the PS5 generation. This device is running out of stock in most stores in Spain and it is unknown if the manufacturer will send more units in the short term.
This accessory has a recommended price of 120 euros, but we are beginning to see that it exceeds that figure in some sales portals. The solution? Make the jump to the digital version or wait for Sony to deliver more units with a disc reader.
