After the launch of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro last year, we have one member of that family left. Its about Pixel 7aof which we have already been seeing rumors and leaks and which promises to be a very worthy heir to the great Pixel 6a.
Google’s new “affordable” terminal will arrive in a few weeks, and before it does, we wanted to review everything that is known about some smartphones that, of course, are postulated as benchmarks for all those who adjust their budget a little more but are looking for an Android mobile with guarantees.
How many Pixel 7a models will there be?
Until now, the Pixels with the suffix “a” only came with a variant defined by its storage, but rumors suggest that this time Google will offer two different models.
Thus, we will have a Pixel 7a with a storage capacity of 128 GB that seems guaranteed and will be the natural heir to the Pixel 6a from last year that also had that capacity.
However, there is also talk that this year we will also have a Pixel 7a that will have 256 GB of storage capacity.
What design will the Pixel 7a have?
As was the case with the Pixel 6a, the new Pixel 7a is practically identical to the Pixel 7 at first glance. The leaks and renders that are appearing confirm this, although there will be some differences such as the screen frames that were already characteristic of the Pixel 6a and that will apparently remain in the Pixel 7a.
At the back, the same bar for the cameras that may use aluminum as in the Pixel 7 will remain, but Google could cut costs and replace that material with polycarbonate.
The back, which is made of glass in the Pixel 7, could also be replaced by plastic, as was the case with the Pixel 6a. However, there are rumors that the glass will continue to be used in the construction of this device.
The latest renders reveal that in addition to the color black and white there will be a variant with a light blue colora hue not seen since the 2018 Pixel 3.
Specs: welcome back, 90 Hz?
The Pixel 7a is expected to have a 6.1-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels, and precisely in this section we could see one of the great novelties of the range.
And it is that according to rumors these devices will have support for 90 Hz refresh ratessomething that is a first for the affordable range of the Pixel.
Taking into account that the Pixel 6a reused the Google Tensor SoC from the Pixel 6/Pro, it is logical to think that here the manufacturer will do exactly the same and make use of the Tensor G2 in the Pixel 7a that it previously integrated into the Pixel 7/Pro. . The chip does not compete with the most powerful on the market, and focuses on efficiency and artificial intelligence.
There is talk of news in the amount of RAM, which could be 8 GB instead of the 6 GB of its predecessor. That is the same memory that the Pixel 7 integrated, and it would be an important help for all the processes running on the mobile.
The battery should not be very different from that of the Pixel 6a -4,410 mAh-, and here it will be necessary to see if the new SoC helps the autonomy to gain integers compared to that of the Pixel 6a, which although it lasted a day in a decent way, something remained short for really intensive use.
There also seems to be great news here, because the Pixel 7a could support not only the same fast charging as its predecessor (18 W), but also wireless charging (although apparently limited to 5 W), another of the most striking novelties of this new terminal.
What news will the Pixel 7a have in the camera?
The photographic section is one of the differential aspects of these devices, and that promises to be true again in the imminent Pixel 7a.
In fact, a potential renewal of the camera sensors is expected. Rumors tell us that the two traditional sensors in this range will be retained —the main one and the ultra-wide angle—, but they will do so with a difference.
That difference is in the main sensor, which could give the jump to a 64 MP Sony IMX787 sensor. Other leaks claim that the Pixel 7a will continue to focus on the 12 MP sensors of its predecessor, the Pixel 6a, which remains an excellent option for those looking for good mobile photography experiences.
When is the Pixel 7a released?
The Pixel 7a is expected to be presented during the opening talk of the Google I / O 2023 event, the developer conference of this company. That talk will take place next May 10, 2023.
When is the Pixel 7a coming out?
Although it is presented on that date, the actual availability will probably be postponed until July or August 2023. The Pixel 6a was available in Spain on July 28, 2022.
How much will the Pixel 7a cost?
When the Pixel 6a went on sale it did so at a price of 459 euro in Spain, and Google is expected to maintain that same price for the Pixel 7a.
Here is an argument for and one against. In favor is the fact that the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro did not rise in price compared to their predecessors. Against that, inflation has caused many products to rise, and also that the new Pixel 7a will introduce notable improvements according to these leaks.
