Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour names a classic song he won’t play

“There are songs from the past that I don’t feel comfortable singing anymore,” Gilmour told the magazine. “I love Run Like Hell. I loved the music I created for it, but the whole ‘You better run, run, run…’ thing now I find a little bit, I don’t know… a little bit scary and violent.”

He added that he will not be playing “Money” from the band’s iconic album “Dark Side Of The Moon” either.

“Another Brick In The Wall is another one of the songs I’m not going to do,” he said. “I don’t think I’ve done it with my own band, but I certainly did it in the post-Roger Pink Floyd era, against my better judgement.”

Gilmour has been locked in a intermittent fight with former bandmate Roger Aguaswho was Floyd’s main songwriter during the group’s classic period.

In recent interviews, Gilmour has shown little interest in re-listening to songs that were primarily written by Waters. Gilmour he told Rolling Stone during the summer I might only do “one or two things” during that time.

In the new interview, he suggested he might go beyond just one or two. He told Mojo that he’ll stick to Floyd songs “that are essentially my music, and I feel some ownership of them,” specifically naming “Comfortably Numb,” “Wish You Were Here” and “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” as songs fans can expect to hear during the upcoming tour.

He didn’t name any songs beyond those, but his focus on music that is essentially his own would mean fans could hear tracks from Pink Floyd’s albums “A Momentary Lapse Of Reason” and “The Division Bell,” which came out after Waters left the band, as well as Gilmour’s solo work.

Gilmour’s tour, in support of his highly acclaimed The new solo album “Luck And Strange” kicks off on Friday with a pair of rehearsal shows in the UK before moving on to Rome, London, Los Angeles and New York.
