Paul Walter Hauser is offering a mea culpa for the “petty” comments he made about Vin Diesel in an interview last month.
On Sunday, the “Richard Jewell” star apologized in a lengthy message. Instagram post after Hauser suggested the “Fast and Furious” actor was not known for being “punctual and accessible.”
“A few weeks ago, I made a random comment about Vin Diesel. It started out as somewhat humorous, but ended up being a criticism of him for behavior I had heard about on multiple occasions and from multiple sources,” Hauser wrote.
The Emmy winner said he had “slept for an hour” before flying from Los Angeles to Atlanta “to do a full day of press” for Pixar’s “Inside Out 2.”
“I was exhausted and in my fatigued state, I lost control and made a careless and unnecessarily mean comment. That comment was recorded and later went viral,” he wrote. “I’m just here to say that I regret making that comment.”
in a video Posted online in late June, Hauser had shut down a CinemaBlend interviewer who compared his voice acting in “Inside Out 2” to Diesel’s in the Wonderful Cinematic universe.
“Please don’t say that,” Hauser told the interviewer. “I’m sorry, I love people, but when I hear stories about Hollywood actors who are paid too much and mistreat people, I call them out all the time. And it’s great.”
Diesel has not publicly commented on Hauser’s remarks. celebrity.land has reached out to representatives for Hauser and Diesel for comment.
In his apology, Hauser clarified that he “never met” Diesel and added that he “truly regrets talking for the sake of talking and not showing Vin any love.”
Hauser also said it was “petty” and “not fair” to judge others the way he did, “even if some of those things turned out to be true.”
“As a self-professed Christian, I need to love people better and not try to ‘right a wrong’ or allow my ego to take over with some kind of verbal posturing,” Hauser wrote along with a Bible quote: “Make it your ambition to live a quiet life.”
To end his message, the “Cruella” actor addressed Diesel directly.
“I apologize. Thank you for entertaining so many people and making them happy. I’m trying to do the same,” Hauser said.
