The Copenhagen Fire Department has confirmed that part of the façade of the Danish capital's Stock Exchange collapsed this Thursday after the virulent fire that occurred on Tuesday and destroyed a large part of the emblematic building.
One of the exterior walls has collapsed into the interior of the Stock Exchange building, which rules out the possibility of any injuries, according to Danish Police sources detailed to the Danish radio and television network DR.
This incident occurs just a few hours after the operations chief of the Copenhagen Fire Department, Tim Ole Simonsen, acknowledged that the stability of the masonry walls affected by the flames could not be guaranteed.
The fire, declared on Tuesday morning, reportedly damaged half of the building, located in Slotsholmen, and destroyed the historic spire of the Stock Exchange, in the shape of the tails of four intertwined dragons, which collapsed due to the flames
The building, known in Danish as Borsen and whose construction was completed in 1640, is located near Christianborg Palace, where Parliament is located, and is one of the country's main tourist attractions.
