The openssl project has announced an update with which they will correct a security vulnerability of critical severity, of which they have preferred not to share details at the moment.
OpenSSL is a free software project that offers a set of tools and libraries that provide cryptographic functions for secure communication on the Internet.
The project team has confirmed the presence of a critical severity vulnerability without sharing details about it, although as stated in the organization’s websiterefers to a vulnerability that affects the most common configurations and is also likely to be exploited“.
Via a statementhave announced a security update for its correction, identified with OpenSSL version 3.0.7, which will be distributed on November 1. From the OpenSSL project they have urged organizations to be vigilant and patch their systems.
“Every time we surf the Internet, the web page we browse or the online service we access uses OpenSSL at its most basic level“, explains the cybersecurity firm Check Point Software in a press release sent to Europa Press.
From this company they point out that although the details of the vulnerability are not yet known, it “could include the disclosure of private key information or user information on a massive level”.
