We have recently seen rumors about a possible design of the future Nintendo consolethe one baptized by the community as Switch 2. A design that shares many elements with the current modelbut it adds some improvements like a double button on the right Joy-Con or one larger screen with 8 inches. But we already knew that CPU would again be from NVIDIAan NVIDIA Tegra T239 that could have been from amd if there were not tests suspended.
According to Moore’s Law is Dead, Nintendo would have ruled out including an AMD processor since with this one I had poor battery life. It seems that AMD’s solution was not efficient with a consumption of only 5 watts, something that the NVIDIA chip did achieve to obtain the expected performance and battery life. AMD’s solution has very good performance with a consumption of 15Wbut Nintendo was not for the work of add more battery in order to continue with a lightweight portable design that will not increase its price.
This gives us clues about the leaked design, which matches these requirements. This new Nintendo Switch 2 is also expected to have a battery about 20 Wh. Nintendo chose a modified NVIDIA Tegra T239 chip for work with DLSS and that it is compatible with AV1. It is expected to carry 1,536 CUDA cores and that it is compatible with 128-bit LPDDR5 memory. In any case, these specifications are not confirmed and it would be necessary to wait for its release to confirm them to be real.
