We are quite used to companies like Nintendo or Sony release updates for consoles that are no longer current generation with limited information, generally indicating that it is an update that improves the stability of the system. Now, Nintendo has done the same with its 3DS.
However, as has been discovered, this update –evidently marked with stability improvements—It arrives shortly after closing the eShop, something that prevents legally acquiring games for the consoleand its sole purpose is to prevent users, unable to buy games for the 3DS, from pirating them.
As expected, the community has not taken this well at all, Well, it is evident that a console with nine years behind it and an online store that can no longer generate any profit even if Nintendo wanted to is not exactly the center of the company’s profits, so it can only be hoped that this is to “throw” Nintendo 3DS users to a more modern system like the Nintendo Switch.
In any case, most users will not be affected by this if they simply don’t update the console and install custom firmware instead.
