Some time ago we tested the first Netgear Mesh systems within its Orbi range, at that time, the router and satellite ecosystem worked with wireless speeds of up to 3,000 Mbps through its WiFi ac or WiFi 5.
Technology has evolved and the WiFi 7 is the standard Next up, Netgear has already shown its Orbi 970 with up to 27 Gbps with prices reaching $2,700 for the router + two satellites package. Now, it has unveiled its new Orbi 770 Series for slightly lower budgets. A range that maintains the philosophy of mesh systems where one or more routers are synchronized with several satellites to create a linked network that maximizes the coverage and speed of the connected devices.
This new version refines its design, they are now narrower and taller, although they maintain the hallmark of the white color and rounded shapes of the rest of the range, and adopts the WiFi 7 standard to achieve speeds of up to 11 Gbps combining its 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands.
At the wired connectivity level, we have 2.5 Gbps Ethernet ports on both the router and the satellites (3 and 2 ports respectively). They support WPA3 and also include an AI security system to block known and yet-to-be-discovered attacks.
The Netgear Orbi 770 They support up to 100 devices connected at onceso its use can also go beyond the domestic sphere and reach small businesses or places where multiple wirelessly connected devices are required. They are capable of covering up to 740 square meters in 3-module systems.
They are not yet available in Spain, Netgear’s website shows the option of “pre-ordering”, but it is not possible to reserve them. In the US, their prices are $700 for a router+satellite package, $1,000 for the router + 2 satellites package, and it is possible to buy individual satellites for $400.
