In March of this year, Netflix announced that it would start charging for account sharing in some countries. Now, the streaming giant is taking another step in favor of its plan to prevent users from sharing the password with those who do not pay for the service.
Starting in August, users in Argentina, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and the Dominican Republic will be able to access Netflix from home. If they want to see any content from another location, in addition to the monthly price of their subscription, they will have to pay an extra, explains the company.
Netflix will be more expensive in some cases
All Netflix accounts from the aforementioned countries, regardless of plan, will be covered by the new streaming service terms. Members of the Basic plan will be able to add an additional house; those of the Standard plan, up to two additional houses, and those of the Premium plan, up to three houses.
For example, in the case of Argentina, the basic Netflix plan costs 429 Argentine pesos (3.28 euros at the exchange rate), but starting next month it will only allow you to use the service in one home. To add an additional one, users must pay 219 Argentine pesos more (1.68 euros to change). It should be noted that in the case of this country, the addition of certain taxes can almost double the cost of the service.
Netflix points out that all those users who add an additional house will have “trips included”, so they can watch Netflix outside their home on mobile devices such as tablets, computers and smartphones. In addition, they will have a new function to “manage houses” available. From there they will be able to add and remove locations at any time.
How Netflix will detect new homes

If the user decides to discard the message, you will be able to continue watching Netflix from the new location for up to two weeks. That is, as long as your account has not previously been used there. After that time, the device will be locked unless you pay the subscription add-on and add the new location.
The company has not provided further details about this test, so we do not know if it will be expanded to other countries in the future. We do know that it is working with Microsoft on a cheap subscription with ads. The changes come shortly after Netflix recorded the biggest loss of users in a decade in a scenario where the proposals of rivals are increasingly competitive.
