Netflix launches new feature to 'monetize' account sharing

As the platform cracks down on account sharing in accordance with the verge, Netflix may have launched the new profile transfer feature to encourage extra users to eventually pay for their own accounts.

The feature will be rolling out today and subscribers around the world will receive an email notification. Once available, users can go to their profile icon on the Netflix home page and look for the “Transfer Profile” option.

The “Profile Transfer” option can also be disabled in the account settings.

In March, Netflix launched a feature of “additional members” in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru, making subscribers pay an additional fee for additional people taking advantage of their accounts. In July, Netflix began testing a feature of “add a home” in Argentina, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.
