The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has ordered the “immediate” mobilization of four Border Police reservist units to “confront the terrorist attacks”, in reference to the recent escalation of clashes between Israelis and Palestinians that have already stopped three dead, more than a dozen injured and 22 arrests.
The four units, which will begin their mobilization on Sunday, will join six others in Jerusalem and other areas in the center of the country that were already active due to the start of Ramadan, a holy month for Muslims, which is usually a period of great tension. and that this year coincides with the Jewish Passover, according to the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.
Two Israeli sisters have been killed and their mother critically wounded after an assault on their vehicle near the northern West Bank settlement of Hamra, while an Italian tourist has been killed and several people injured after a suspect runs into a crowd with a car on the Tel Aviv city waterfront.
These attacks have come in retaliation for consecutive night assaults by the Israel Security Forces on the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, which resulted in more than 400 arrests.
