The Moroccan Armed Forces announced this Monday the rescue of 69 migrants, including five women and a minor, off the coast of the port of the city of Tan Tan, in the southwest of the country, when they were in three boats. different supposedly directed towards the Canary Islands.
A Royal Navy patrol assisted the first two boats, in which there were 16 migrants, including the five women and the minor, 16 kilometers from the aforementioned port, according to a statement from the Armed Forces published on their account. of the social network X, formerly Twitter.
Shortly afterwards, another Royal Navy patrol helped the second boat, with 53 migrants on board, 46 kilometers northwest of the port of Tan Tan.
The Moroccan authorities have given basic aid to the migrants, all of them of sub-Saharan origin, before putting them at the disposal of the Gendarmerie to carry out the corresponding procedures, as reported by the Moroccan state news agency, MAP.
