Microsoft will use nuclear energy to power its Artificial Intelligence

Unit 1 of the Three Mile Island nuclear plant, which was closed in 2019 for economic reasons, will be reactivated following an agreement between Microsoft and Constellation Energy, according to a statement from the energy company. This unit, which is separate from Unit 2, will be used to provide clean power to the data centers Microsoft operates in its push toward artificial intelligence.

The need for large amounts of energy has increased significantly due to data centers, which perform the complex calculations required for artificial intelligence applications.
