Micron already manufactures the first 232-layer QLC NAND memories on a large scale



Micron, one of the leading memory chip manufacturers, has announced that they have already begun mass manufacturing of their memory chips. NAND QLC 232 layers for endpoint and data center devices. These are the first QLC chips to reach this number of vertical layers, a considerable leap from models such as previous 176-layer chips.

In fact, the first shipments of Crucial SSDs equipped with these new memory chips are already being made. They are also sending the first samples to PC assemblers and manufacturers with the Micron 2500, some NVMe SSDs sold under its brand for integrators. Likewise, business customers are also receiving their first orders.

The Micron 2500 reach capacities of up to 2 TB with a sequential read speed of up to 7,100 MB/s and 6,000 MB/s write speed of the same type. Random access achieves speeds of 1 million input and output IOPS.

According to Micron, its 232-layer QLC NAND memories achieve a 28% higher density than the most advanced competing chips, with a 24% improvement in reading from the previous generation and a 31% increase in programming performance. The improvement in speed in MT/s reaches 50% of entry and exit, with 2,400 MT/s.
