Meta would have fired workers who recovered user accounts in exchange for money

We recently announced that Meta was going to lay off some 11,000 workers from its workforcesomething that would have to do with a much lower growth than expected in its metaverse, but it seems to be, according to what can be read in the Wall Street Journal, that some workers had been taking certain liberties within the company’s systems.

Especially, there is a tool within the company’s systems called “Oops”, a tool designed to speed up the recovery of an account that has been suspended by mistake in cases of famous usersthus reducing the media impact that this could cause.

However, it was possible to detect that the use of this tool had doubled in recent years, something that did not make much sense, until it has been discovered that some workers were even receiving bribes to recover their accounts, accounts that could have been appropriately suspended, but were now functional again in exchange for money.

The number of employees who have been fired for this is unknown, but it is true that the first cause of this black market for unlocks has appeared is the non-existence of a functional support system on both Facebook and Instagramwhere even a simple password recovery attempt on your stolen account can be hellish for some users who don’t get support no matter how hard they try.
