Master’s Program in Government and Public Affairs of the Catholic University of Temuco invites you to apply for the 2023 call
Lorenzo Palma, Science in Chile.- If you are interested in politics and national and regional events, the program of Master in Government and Public Affairs from the Catholic University of Temuco, can be a good option to improve and/or acquire new knowledge.
The State, the political system and the social structure and, in addition, delving into methodologies aimed at good academic and professional practice, are some of the major areas that the master’s degree works on. Applications for the year 2023 began on September 1 and close on March 1, 2023.
“This is a professional master’s degree with a regional perspective, which covers a fairly complex area, such as the southern macro zone. In the program we provide tools for professionals who want to specialize in the development, implementation and design of regional public policies”, highlights the director of the program, Dr. Emilio Moya.
The Master has 4 lines of specialization, among them: Processes, actors and political institutions; project design and evaluation; management and public policies; and regional and local development. It is currently in its first Accreditation process.
The director of the program explains that, in addition to obtaining a master’s degree, students can obtain a diploma in one of the postgraduate specialty areas.
It should be noted that the academic body of the program stands out for its number of academic publications and assigned Fondecyt projects. “In this program we try to link the research of the academics with the students,” commented Emilio Moya, PhD in Latin American Studies at the University of Chile.
Some of the current research of the academic body is, to explain the operation of corruption, clientelism and patronage in the allocation of public positions in local governments; territorial stratification, explaining housing policies; studies of presidentialism and parliamentarism and how it works, is applied and contextualized in local governments; also within the studies are the mechanisms of citizen participation and the functioning of the public administration, both at the national and local levels.
