“Within the framework of the operations of the joint force of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), the Burkinabe, Malian and Nigerien armed forces have carried out numerous actions that resulted in the neutralization of multiple terrorist groups and the destruction of important logistical bases in the border areas,” they said.

Thus, they have specified in a statement published on their website that “numerous terrorists were neutralized and an important logistical lot was destroyed” in Labbezanga, while “war material” was destroyed and “many terrorists neutralized” in the surroundings of this town. , on the border between Mali and Niger.

Along these lines, he stressed that in Douna, on the border between Mali and Burkina Faso, “a joint action involving aerial and Burkinabe vectors allowed the dismantling of an important logistics base”, while applauding this “coordination”, which ” shows the effectiveness of the joint operations of the AES forces against terrorist groups.”

Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger approved the aforementioned alliance in September 2023, within the framework of their distancing from the former colonial power, France, and other Western partners after the aforementioned coups d'état, which have led to a rapprochement with the authorities of Russia.

Mali and the rest of the Sahel countries have experienced an upsurge in violence, both jihadist at the hands of branches of Al Qaeda and the Islamic State, and inter-community violence, amid reports of abuses by the Army and mercenaries. deployed by the Wagner Group in support of Bamako to address insecurity.
