Unfortunately today there is bad news to report for the world of music that reaches the world of video games, because unfortunately the leader of the Icelandic band Low Roar, who had a stellar participation in Death Stranding and that without his music it would not have existed.
On the afternoon of this Saturday, October 29, the official accounts of Low Roar reported the death of Ryan Karazija, founder, vocalist and main musician of Low Roar. The musician died at the age of 40 and the causes of his death were not revealed.

“His beautiful music and lyrics, sung in his enchanting voice touched the lives of many people around the world and will continue to do so. He was a kind and beautiful soul and our worlds are shattered by his loss. Let us honor his memory through his art and let’s remember him forever in his songs,” the official statement read.
Officials confirmed that Low Roar’s sixth production is underway and will be completed and released when ready: “Please respect his family’s privacy at this incredibly difficult time.”
Who was Ryan Karazija and Low Roar?
Ryan Karazija became a self-taught musician in his youth and in 2002 formed the indie rock band Audrye Sessions. In 2010, the group became the post-rock/electronic project Low Roar after moving to Iceland and its members were Ryan Karazija, Andrew Scheps and Mike Lindsay.
The band remained an indie group with its respective scope, but this was enhanced when the song I’ll Keep Coming appeared in reveal trailer Death Stranding.
The collaboration with Kojima Productions went further, as the songs of the group stood out in the soundtrack of the game, some singles that were included were Don’t Be So Serious, bones, Easy Way Out Y Once in a Long, Long While.
From then on, the band became more popular. Interestingly, in a 2020 interview, Karazija revealed that thanks to this collaboration the band was able to get ahead of a strong economic crisis.
“Sony contacted us in an obscure email offering us a sum of money to use the song I’ll Keep Comingand they weren’t willing to tell us what they would use the song for,” Karazija said.
Hideo Kojima said goodbye to Karazija with an emotional message
The unfortunate news reached Hideo Kojima, main creative of Death Stranding who had the opportunity to coincide and collaborate with Karazija, and did not hesitate to share an emotional message in memory of the musician and listen to some of his songs. Interestingly, just as Death Stranding helped Low Roar in its difficult moments, the music of this band was essential for the video game, because without it it would not have existed, as Kojima has just revealed.
“I heard the news. I can’t believe it. I don’t want to believe it. Without Ryan, without you and your music, Death StrandingI wouldn’t have been born. Your music will live forever in this world and in me. Thanks. Rest in peace,” Kojima said.
