Logitech unveils Ocular View, its project of booths for video calls based on telepresence

June 21. (Portaltic/EP) –

Logitech has revealed Ocular View, the telepresence-based video calling system that it first unveiled as Project Ghost and that promotes an extended reality experience in face-to-face meetings.

Eye View is a booth for video calls that Logitech has designed together with the office furniture brand Steelcase, which generates the effect of projecting the person with whom you are having a meeting in a space without resorting to holograms.

It was presented as a Ghost project and offers a semi-enclosed space, which includes a sofa and a videoconferencing system based on Logitech’s own technology, with a screen, microphones and speakers, which generates the effect that the other person is present during the conversation. what is known as telepresence.

For this purpose, the company uses an angled glass, which projects the image of the other person, instead of resorting to holographic technology, as Google does in the Starline project. It also creates the effect of eye contact with a camera placed behind the glass.

It is “a one-to-one extended reality experience,” which “blurs the lines between the physical and the digital to create a more human and immersive connection,” as the technology company explains in the promotional video.

As reported in The Vergethis telepresence system can be ordered in North America and some European countries.
