Launch of the second version of the “Latin American Artificial Intelligence Index (ILIA)”"

The development and adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in Latin America and the Caribbean are essential to address the region’s key challenges. AI has the potential to transform economic sectors through innovative solutions and improve the operation of public services, which in turn can improve people’s quality of life. To achieve strong AI governance and ensure equitable and ethical distribution of its benefits, collaboration between governments, academic institutions, businesses and civil society is crucial.

The launch of the second version of the “Latin American Artificial Intelligence Index (ILIA)”, organized by ECLAC and the National Center for Artificial Intelligence of Chile (CENIA), will feature welcoming remarks by authorities from the government of Chile, the European Union and ECLAC. Specialists and representatives of technology companies will also participate, who will share practical cases of AI applications and discuss the challenges facing the region in its adoption and development.

The Latin American Artificial Intelligence Index offers a regional perspective on key issues for the creation of AI-based development and innovation ecosystems, the governance of this technology, the existing gaps between countries, and best practices.
