The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have reported this Thursday the demolition of an unmanned aircraft on the border with Lebanon, supposedly after it entered Israeli territory near the town of Zarit, located next to the so-called Blue Line that separates both countries.
“The IDF will continue to prevent any attempt to violate Israeli sovereignty,” the institution has proclaimed, which has also shared an image showing the downed device, a small drone with no apparent military characteristics.
The area is usually a recurring scene of tensions, although no one on the Lebanese side has assumed this drone as their own.
The head of the Israeli Army’s Military Intelligence Directorate, Aharon Haliva, warned this week that the leader of the Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, “is close to making a mistake” that could trigger a conflict, after for the group to carry out a series of exercises in southern Lebanon over the weekend.
