April 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Israel reported this Monday that it had shot down a hostile aircraft near the port of Eilat, in the south of the country, using interception missiles launched from warships for the first time.
“First interception in the war of a hostile aircraft shot down with the Naval Dome near Eilat,” the Israel Defense Forces published in a statement.
The anti-aircraft system was activated after the “infiltration alert of a hostile aerial device” in the city of Eilat. “Naval forces identified a suspicious aerial object that entered the airspace of the State of Israel” which was “successfully intercepted” using the Naval Dome system. “There have been no casualties or damage,” the military statement highlighted.
On April 1, Israel reported the impact of a drone in Eilat that had been launched from Iraq by pro-Iranian militias. The device caused damage to a warehouse.
