One of Sony’s most important bets for this generation is the second version of its virtual reality device, PlayStation VR, since the first, which was launched in the PS4 cycle, was a success and demonstrated the potential of technology to the videogames. Currently, we know that there is a PlayStation VR2 on the way but it is not known when it will be released, however, it seems that the idea that it will arrive this year is close to becoming a reality.
Study shows real image of PSVR2
The expectation around the launch of PSVR2 started from the recent State of Play where Sony and its partners announced several games for the device. As for its release windows, some included its PSVR2 debut later this year, a detail that has suggested that the virtual reality device will be ready for this holiday season. However, Sony has not made an official announcement about it, but as is often the case in recent years, leaks are the order of the day.
A report of VGC shared an image posted by the Twitter account of an indie studio Bit Planet Games, showing an alleged PSVR2 in the studio’s possession. The capture includes the device and the controls as revealed by Sony in its presentation, but with the detail that they had not been seen outside the material published by the Japanese company.
PSVR2 release was taken down, preventing conflict with Sony
The studio’s encouragement in its post with the phrase “Guess what’s coming for PSVR2?” It fell apart in no time as the tweet had to be deleted. As pointed out in the report, during the period in which the publication was active, a user asked if they were not violating a confidentiality agreement, to which the account replied that maybe that would have happened 6 months ago, not now. Despite this, it seems that Sony did not want PSVR2 to be seen in its real state, perhaps because an official presentation with details is on the way, since it is a fact that the studios have been working with this device for a long time.
