The Minister for Equality, Irene Montero, has asked this Monday from Castilla-La Mancha for the vote for her formation Unidas Podemos: “It has to be strong in the regional and municipal governments to apply the housing law to its ultimate consequences.”
Page would win the elections in Castilla-La Mancha but would need a pact with United We Can to govern
Further
Specifically, in Castilla-La Mancha, he has asked for support for the candidate José Luis García Gascón because “if Mr. Page is left alone, he will look to the right.”
“It is the decisive political force” so that there can be left-wing policies and the only one, he said, with the only capacity to transform and assume the political cost that implies proposing and doing what they told us was impossible.
He maintains that the president and candidate of the PSOE for the Presidency of Castilla-La Mancha “is a bipartisan candidate” and that in the autonomous community “the right rules even if it does not govern.”
“We need a progressive government in which United We Can have strength” to put an end to “Mr. Page’s inaction” in the application of two regulations: the Abortion Law and the Housing Law. “This week we will have the Housing Law,” he assured.
Pineda: “Page makes right-wing policies with his fist and cocoon in hand”
The event was also attended by IU MEP Manu Pineda, “We believe that it is necessary, and here more than anywhere, to put an end not only to parties but also to right-wing policies” and that “only United We Can guarantee that social policies are made”.
For Pineda, “Mr. Page is one of the main opponents of the coalition government. The right uses it every day because this man makes right-wing policies with his fist and the cocoon in his hand. In his opinion, it is not enough to call oneself on the left, “you have to be”.
He has also criticized that the current regional president “is filling Castilla-La Mancha with macro-parks and pig farms that are destroying the environment. Everything that nobody wants is settling here ”, he assured, and to avoid it he believes that United We Can“ must be decisive ”.
Gascón: “We promise to comply with the feminist laws that Page breaks”
The United Podemos candidate for the Presidency of the Board spoke in similar terms. José Luis García Gascón thanked Montero for supporting the regional candidacy that he leads.
He has described the Ministry of Equality “in the advances of feminists in Spain” as a “historical figure” and has assured that “Page’s attacks on the minister and the Ministry are unacceptable. It is contrary to common sense because the UN praised the progress in February, especially with the Trans Law and the reform of the Abortion Law”.
In this sense, he has assured that “we are committed to complying with the feminist laws that Emiliano García-Page is breaking” and in particular he has cited the right contained in the reform of the Abortion Law so that women who wish to can have an abortion in the center closest public “and not in private centers where they are harassed by anti-abortion groups.”
It also ensures that United We Can “comply” with the Castilian-La Mancha law for a society without gender violence “which was approved thanks to United We Can in the last legislature” and which provides, he recalled, the implementation of a subject in public education of the region for the prevention of gender violence and feminist awareness in the classroom. “Emiliano García-Page has not started it since 2018 either. We are going to comply with it. We will advance in social rights in the next legislature”.
Regarding the CIS poll that gives this formation between zero and two seats in the regional courts on May 28, García Gascón believes that “people want a progressive change in the face of right-wing policies and the setbacks of Emiliano García-Page and Dolores de Cospedal”. They have been, he insisted, “two absolute majorities that have brought social, environmental and feminist setbacks in Castilla-La Mancha.”
In the formation they say they are “very satisfied and satisfied” by the expectations opened by the CIS, but they add that “beyond the two deputies that it gives us, we went out to win” and they have shown confidence in obtaining representation “in all the provinces ”.
Today he has been asked again about possible post-electoral alliances if United We Can receive enough votes to condition the Government of Castilla-La Mancha. “We will never facilitate government agreements in which the right participates” and, in this sense, the pact with the PSOE goes through “progressive coalition agreements”, a left-wing program and also, “a truly left-wing Presidency that creates the progressive change in Castilla-La Mancha”, without mentioning the name of Emiliano García-Page.
