The Government of Iran has described as “constructive” the new talks held this Monday in the Swiss city of Geneva with the members of the known as E3 – made up of France, the United Kingdom and Germany – on its nuclear program, amid the increase of the tensions in recent months.
“The third round of talks between Iran and the E3 was held in Geneva. The talks were serious, frank and constructive,” said Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, in a statement published on his website. social network profile X.
As he explained, they have discussed ideas that “involved certain details” in the nuclear and sanctions lifting areas that “are necessary to reach an agreement.” “The parties agreed that negotiations should be resumed and that to reach an agreement all parties must create and maintain the appropriate atmosphere. We agreed to continue our dialogue,” he added.
At the end of the year, the UN Undersecretary General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, urged the United Nations Security Council to “urgently” resume negotiations on the nuclear deal with Iran.
Before the meeting at the international organization, the E3 countries published a joint statement in which they stated that “(Iran’s) reserves of highly enriched uranium have reached unprecedented levels, without credible civil justification,” amid the criticism from Tehran.
Iran, Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, France and Germany signed the nuclear pact in 2015, the fulfillment of which allowed the lifting of the economic and financial sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council, the United States and the European Union against the Republic.
