“[La reforma] It does not affect the worker in any way, because, since 2020, their right to collect on these resources is imprescriptible,” the official highlighted.
The director of the institution recalled that before the pension reform that was carried out in 2020, both Infonavit and Fovissste kept the workers' savings after 10 years of inactivity.
The reform proposed by Morena indicates that the resources in the accounts will always belong to the workers or, failing that, to the beneficiaries designated by the worker.
The president of the Mexican Association of Afores (Amafore), Guillermo Zamarripa, said that the amount of money in inactive accounts of the Afores of people over 70 years of age amounts to up to 40,000 million pesos.
Martínez highlighted that in 2023 the first notices were made to people over 69 years of age to collect the resources that they did not use during their working life.
“Last year we sent a notice to people 69 years old, there were 169,000 notices and 3,700 people approached,” he said.
