Indra successfully implements and migrates a third generation cloud interoperability platform

Indra has successfully completed the implementation and commissioning of the Interoperability Management Platform (IMP) of third generation tolls of Ireland for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). The new one cloud platform simplifies the electronic toll collection (ETC) in all the freeways by making it easier for toll service providers and toll service providers to exchange transaction and payment data, and enables national and European drivers with a toll service account to use all of Ireland’s toll motorways, regardless from the provider.

Built on the basis of an advanced system of clearing house in the Microsoft Azure cloudwith an architecture of microservicesthe platform verifies, consolidates and distributes the transaction data of the toll collection service providers and toll tag providers to guarantee the correct payment of tolls. In accordance with the data exchange standard and a European directive, the platform complies with the European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) and equivalent standards for electronic fee collection. It is open, flexible, modular and scalable, and is prepared to incorporate new functions and transactions that may be required in the future, as a result of advanced mobility policies, such as the mobility-as-a-service.

The platform is already up and running, providing management and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the interoperability service. Indra is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the platform for five years, until 2028, with expansion options. Beyond the advanced technological solution implemented, the management of this project has been especially complex due to the large number of parties involved beyond TII, such as the different toll road collection providers and toll tag device providers, whose systems and processes had to be integrated into Indra’s IMP solution.

The high level of collaboration between Indra, Transport Infrastructure Irelandwith the support of Arup advisors, the outgoing service provider and the toll and collection operatorsas well as Indra’s proven ability to tackle complex projects with multiple stakeholders They have been key to the success of the project. “We are very satisfied with the work carried out in collaboration with Transport Infrastructure Ireland. In a project of this nature, migration from the existing platform is critical and requires months of careful preparation and testing to ensure a seamless transition for end users, while ensuring that no transaction is lost. We have successfully migrated to the new platform smoothly, as planned and without service incidents,” he explains. mark rocky, Director of Business Development Mobility in Indra’s Europe. With the completion of this project, Indra contributes to the goal of TII to provide sustainable transport infrastructure and services for a better quality of life, economic growth and environmental responsibility.

Leader in advanced and interoperable platforms

Thanks to its comprehensive and innovative line of collection solutions, Mova Collectand its platform specialized in smart mobility, In-Mova Spacewhich allows a transversal vision of the management of mobility and the exploitation of the infrastructures Indra has become one of the leading global companies in interoperable technology for electronic payment of transport and in advanced electronic toll solutions.

The company has implemented its toll technology in countries such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Australia, the Philippines, Israel, Portugal, Spain or Ireland itself, where its technology of back office has been installed in six highways, which make up around 45% of the country’s roads, including the one linking Dublin to the Northern Irish border. The toll solution Indra is also one of the most advanced that currently exists, as it incorporates capabilities for artificial intelligence and deep learning, integration with connected vehicles and with the automatic occupant detection system in company vehicles. Thanks to these advances, Indra has implemented an advanced toll system on the I-66 highway in the United States that allows the highway to operate with an innovative dynamic pricing system.

Innovation has already led Indra to be pioneer in toll systems free flow and multi-concession toll systems. Indra is now moving towards the model of the dynamic tolls (Managed Lanes), that make new, more sustainable mobility policies possible, and whose implementation is growing in the United States and has great potential in access to large European cities.

Indra has unique experience in Transportation, with more than 2,500 projects developed in more than 100 cities and more than 50 countries. His offer for Transport, Indra Mova Solutionscovers the entire life cycle of its clients’ projects and combines the new digital, integration, specialization and innovation capabilities demanded by the market, with reliability, business knowledge, Indra’s own technology for transport and the experience of its team of professionals.
