Indonesia and Poland agree to foster collaboration in leading sectors

Indonesia and Poland agree to continue efforts to increase cooperation by developing collaboration in leading sectors of the two countries. This was discussed at the 5th meeting of the Indonesia-Poland Bilateral Consultation, held in jakarta on May 22, 2023. These sectors are trade, investment, tourism, energy, creative industry, strategic industry, education, transport and healthcare.

In the Bilateral Consultation, the Indonesian delegation was headed by Ambassador Umar Hadi, Director General for America and Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For its part, the Polish delegation was headed by Ambassador Wojciech Gerwel, Undersecretary of State for Economic Cooperation, the United Nations, Asia and the Americas.

Director General Hadi stated that the significant increase in the volume of bilateral trade in the midst of a depressed world economic situation, showed the strong modality that both countries had in the field of economic cooperation. “This high figure also shows that the two countries still have many opportunities in the development of bilateral cooperation.”

Poland inaugurates its embassy in Mongolia

Following the meeting, the two heads of delegation also held a handover ceremony for an electric vehicle charging station donated by the Polish company EkoEnergetyka to the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Gerwel stated that this delivery was a symbol of closer bilateral cooperation in the field of electromobility.

Apart from bilateral cooperation, they also discussed the situation in the region, including ASEAN, Indo-Pacific and Europe. Poland expressed its appreciation for Indonesia’s leadership in the G20 and its support for the ASEAN Chairmanship. The two countries also agreed on the importance of a peaceful, stable and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

Currently, Poland is Indonesia’s largest trading partner in Central Europe, with a bilateral trade value in 2022 reaching $1.36 million. This figure has increased by 60.74% compared to the previous year (2021).
