“The Indian mission in Tehran remains involved in the matter and is in contact with the other 16 Indian crew members of the ship,” he said, before adding that all of them “are in good health and in contact with their families in India.” .

Likewise, he stressed that the Indian authorities “are also in contact with Iran to guarantee the well-being of the rest of the crew of the 'MSC Aries'”, while confirming a conversation on this topic between the Foreign Minister of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and his Iranian counterpart, Hosein Amirabdolahian.

The statement was published a day after MSC stated that the 25 members of the 'MSC Aries' crew are fine and added that there are “discussions” underway with the Iranian authorities to try to achieve their release.

The Portuguese-flagged ship was seized on Saturday by the Revolutionary Guard, which claimed it was linked to the Zodiac group, owned in part by Israeli millionaire Eyal Ofer. Portugal summoned the Iranian ambassador in Lisbon on Tuesday to protest the recent attacks against Israel and demand the “immediate release” of the 'MSC Aries'.
