The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, began a new official visit to Ukraine on Tuesday, with a view to continuing to gather information that could allow some kind of progress in the investigations opened for alleged war crimes.

Khan has started his agenda with a meeting with the Attorney General of Ukraine, Andri Kostin, with whom he wants to collaborate to advance accountability, as reported by the court. The main prosecutor of the TPI has on other occasions reproached Russia precisely for its lack of cooperation.

The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, has thanked this visit on social networks. “We feel the support of the ICC in our efforts to achieve justice and to hold all those responsible for the crimes committed by the Russian invaders accountable,” he said.

The Prosecutor’s Office of The Hague court announced in early March 2022 the formal opening of an investigation to determine whether crimes under jurisdiction could have been committed in Ukraine, something for which Khan has already publicly maintained that there are clear indications.
