The last time fans saw Natalie Portman on screen in a Marvel movie was in 2013 when she starred in “Thor: The Dark World.”

The 41-year-old Oscar winner returns to action in the fourth installment of the franchise, “Thor: Love and Thunder,” out July 8.

However, it was not the easiest task for the “Black Swan” star, who argued with australian fashion how difficult it was to return to the set after a decade away.

While it was “incredible” and “surreal” to return to the world of Marvel, Portman noted that he felt like he had to “figure out how to fit in” again.

“It’s so weird when something is very familiar, but you’re also like the new kid,” the “Black Swan” star said.

His co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, as well as director Taika Waititi, had previously worked together on the third film, “Thor: Ragnarok” in 2017.

“Because Chris, Tessa and Taika had worked together on ‘Ragnarok,’ and so successfully that it was like they were all coming together and I was a rookie trying to figure out how to fit in,” she explained.

The Israeli-born filmmaker continued: “But they are also the nicest people, and I also know Chris and Tessa very well from previous work together, and had also done ‘Thor’ movies twice before.”

Portman appeared in both “Thor” and “Thor: The Dark World.” He also collaborated with Thompson, 38, in the 2018 drama “Annihilation.”

“So there was also a lot of familiarity and comfort in that world, but it was this weird mix of being a veteran and a rookie at the same time,” he said. “I was there at the beginning. But at the same time, you are the outsider of this group.”

“Thor: Love and Thunder” will show Portman wielding the magical hammer Mjolnir and becoming the superhero, the Mighty Thor.

she disclosed to Variety last month she bulky to portray the female heroine. The “Jackie” actress strengthened her shoulders and arms and developed more muscle.

“In ‘Black Swan,’ they asked me to be as small as possible,” she told the publication. “Here, they asked me to be as big as possible. That’s an incredible challenge, and also a state of mind as a woman.”

Added Portman: “To have this reaction and be seen as great, you realize, ‘Oh, this must be so different, walking around the world like this.'”
