Mark Zuckerberg took advantage of the difficult time Twitter was experiencing to launch Threads, a new social network that bears many similarities to Elon Musk’s short message platform. Mind you, there are a couple of asterisks worth noting.
Threads is a platform that works within the Instagram ecosystem and serves as an extension of the latter. This means that you need a photo and video social network account to use the new Meta app. This dependency comes with a couple of problems and limitations.

If you were one of the millions of users who gave this new Meta platform a try but weren’t convinced, you’d better be careful before deleting your account. What happens is that if you delete your Threads profile it will also affect your Instagram account.
Does this mean that you can never hide your profile? Not at all. If you wish, you can deactivate your account from the new app at any time without affecting your Instagram account. The good news is that the process is very simple and fast.

So you can deactivate your Threads account without affecting your main Instagram profile
The first thing you have to do is visit your profile and click on the “Settings” tab, which appears by pressing the 2 horizontal lines that are at the top right of the screen. Once there, click on Account and then click on “Deactivate Profile”. Finally, confirm the process by pressing the option “Deactivate Threads Profile”.
Now, what happens if you deactivate your Threads account? Basically, your profile on Mark Zuckerberg’s new social network will no longer be visible to other users. Also, your posts, replies and all profile information will remain hidden. The good news is that your Instagram account will be intact.
Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, confirmed that users can also hide content, set their profile to private, and delete individual posts. Of course, he announced that they are currently looking for a way to make it possible to delete the Threads profile separately.
While Mark Zuckerberg’s new platform debuted on the right foot and caught the attention of millions, some users are disappointed by the absence of some Twitter features. For example, they regret that you cannot use hashtags or send private messages.
But tell us, did you give this social network a chance? Do you think it will surpass Twitter? Let us read you in the comments.
