It represents a saving in economic terms for health systems and, in combination with wearable technologies or the Internet of Things (IoT) and AI, mobile health no longer only serves to make citizens “greater aware of their health and well-being, but also to collect data in real time that allows for improved prevention, anticipated diagnosis and optimized monitoring of many diseases,” he says.
There are a number of challenges that the national health system must overcome before implementing digital health in a general way, because although the use rates of telehealth have increased, the persistence of obsolete devices prevents 25% of Mexican organizations from providing support to the devices remotely, which complicates their ability to modernize daily operations.
According to data from the report Digitalization of the Sector: the time is now, prepared by SOTI, 91% of IT decision makers in Mexico believe that their organization would benefit from more interconnected medical devices.
However, 45% of Mexican organizations admitted to having legacy or obsolete technology, which is a problem at a global level, since this trend is more pronounced in countries such as Germany (81%), Canada (77%) and France (73%), where the majority of healthcare professionals believe they are hampered by legacy systems.
