Gtd will begin construction of its second data center in Colombia

The growing demand for cloud services and digital connectivity It has also generated a progressive requirement for data processing centers both in Colombia and on the continent.

(Colombia, innovation center for its development in Data Center).

These technological complexes play a fundamental role in a world increasingly driven by technology and, as a consequence, this has triggered the construction of this type of spaces, especially the largest ones.

In recent years, the country has made significant investments in data centers that favor the strengthening and growth of its technological offer. In accordance with Invest in Colombia, More than 20 of them have already been established in the national territory, with important companies, which have decided to increase their capacity to satisfy that growing demand.

The good news is that this increase translates into strong economic development for Colombia, a nation that is on the radar of a market that, according to the research firm Research and Markets, will reach $143 billion dollars by 2027.

The company Gtd Colombia is part of this commitment to consolidate a large and prominent data center industry in the region. Shortly, Construction will begin on its second data center in Barranquilla, a city that seeks to establish itself as a super digital port on the continent.

(Data center implements renewable energy projects).

With an initial investment of US$20 million, this technological complex will have more than 6,200 m2 and will deploy more than 500 kilometers of fiber optics throughout the city. The project ratifies the objective of constant growth of this company.

“Gtd has seen a consolidation of its business during the last few years in Colombia. In terms of results, this year we expect to grow 24%, which would mean ending up with an operation almost twice the size of the one we had just 3 years ago. Looking to the future, we hope to reach 2025, having tripled our income generation capacity”says Fernando Maturana, general manager of Gtd Colombia.

With this data center, Barranquilla, the golden gate of Colombia, consolidates its new vocation as a technological city.

The project will have four rooms with capacity for 52 IT racks each, that is, a total of 208 racks that will enhance the processing of digital communications, data storage and transfer, the generation of critical solutions and promote the development of new technologies Cloud-based.

According to the general manager of ColombiaLa Arenosa also has great potential to build these spaces if one takes into account that it is one of the cities in the world with the best strategies for attracting foreign investment, according to the FDI report for 2020, developed by the intelligence center of the British newspaper Financial Times.

“Not forgetting that near Barranquilla there are four of the 13 submarine fiber optic cables that connect Colombia with the world, making it a strategic site for the digital transformation of the country”highlights Maturana.

The Data Center, on the other hand, will have clean technologies for its operation, such as generating electricity through solar panels, in a city like Barranquilla, which also has an ideal location in this regard thanks to its permanent light. The Golden Gate of Colombia also opens the doors for the construction of other information processing centers in the country.

“Gtd is a healthy, robust and constantly developing company both here and in the other nations where it operates. However, the opportunities for accelerated growth can be found mainly in Peru and Colombia, given the maturity of the market, the penetration of our brand and our solutions, and the space we see to continue investing in infrastructure projects”explains Maturana.

With projects like the one that will be inaugurated soon, the region and the country will benefit by attracting both domestic and foreign direct investment, in a city that will now have a new data center with which users and companies can increase the speed of connectivity services, reducing latency (time it takes for the connection to reach a network) and improving the digital experience in a sector that foresees a more than promising future.
