García-Page says goodbye to 2022: "Stability in Castilla-La Mancha is the envy of a good part of the country"

He attributes stability to three specific reasons. “There is evident political stability: what we say can be done” and maintains that “there is a broad political consensus”, in addition to “a government and some institutions that function normally at this time” and that helps the companies “know where they can invest”. For the Castilian-Manchego, stability “allows us to be more coherent and when there is consensus, what is said can be fulfilled much better.”

The Castilian-Manchego president has highlighted “the way of doing things in this land” contrasting the “social, economic, political and cultural climate” that is enjoyed in the region and which, according to him, allows stability and predictability “very different from what is taking place in other places in Spain” and of which “we can boast” because it allows us to face the “uncertainty” that prevails at the present time.

Here, he said, “the great strategies are agreed upon with employers and unions” and he believes that “it is much better to move forward together than to take the lead that leaves many people out or to one side. This is how we force ourselves to be truly moderate.” And it is that, he added, “being moderate is much more difficult and much harder than insulting or being radical.”

What is good for Spain is clearly good for us. Others are constantly wasting time looking at what they are and it is very difficult to approach the future without knowing who one is.

Thirdly, he has insisted that “we know what we are and we are happy with it. We are Spanish and, within Spain, we have the autonomy to be able to manage the interests that most directly affect us. Here it can be said that what is good for Castilla-La Mancha is good for Spain. I’m not so sure that it can be said everywhere. And what is good for Spain as a whole is clearly good for us too”, he declared.

In this regard, he made it ugly that in other parts of the country, without mentioning any, “others are permanently wasting their time among greyhounds or podencos and looking at what they are and it is really very difficult to approach the future without knowing who one is.”

García-Page has said that come how 2023 comes (and 2024, he added, almost assuming his continuity as head of the government), “we are going to manage with a lot of common sense, with a lot of moderation and with a lot of determination” to face any crisis that may come. It will do so hand in hand with a “medicine that was not applied in the past: more health, more education, more social benefits and more soul.”

The speech has once again been marked by that “own personality” that his people confer on the also general secretary of the Castilian-Manchego PSOE in his constant statements about what is happening in Spain. Page has insisted on giving his opinion beyond the borders of Castilla-La Mancha. “There is no other way and here you can not cheat.” It is, he said, a “determination that we have in this land”, which is “the land of common sense”.

He also spoke of himself as a public manager. He has thanked the Castilian-Manchegos and Castilian-Manchegas for “allowing me to develop a vocation for public service” of which he, he added, “has led me to feel proud of all the public positions I have had. And of this: to be able to represent Castilla-La Mancha in the context of Spain in a very special way”.

More investment in health and research, the best “tribute” after the pandemic

In any case, he has asked the public to “respond individually and collectively” to “uncertainty”, the word with which he has defined the current moment. “I can’t promise that all the problems will be fixed,” she clarified, to acknowledge that “there are things to improve.”

The head of the Castilian-Manchego Executive concluded his message by wishing a happy year 2023 and “the best possible health” to all the residents of the region. “That they feel proud and maintain a high self-esteem of who we are. I do it”. In this sense, he assured that “if 2023 comes loaded with good winds, here we are very prepared to pick them up and take advantage of them. And if 2023, or 2024, came with new difficulties or the ones that exist are prolonged, what better than to have a guarantee, a social cushion ”.
